Practices for personal & community health

Covid-19

All members of the AWI community will be required to obtain a daily health check by taking their temperature and assessing symptoms prior to entering the building. This daily health check will be conducted at the main entrance of the building- where students will have space to fill out a self-checklist form.

Start each day with a health check

If you have a temperature higher than 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or any of the following symptoms, stay home, and call - Advanced Welding Institute: 802.660.0600 or COVID-19 Response Team: 413.687.2283

Symptoms:

Fever or Chills

Coughing

Difficulty breathing

Fatigue

Muscle or body aches

Headache

Loss of taste or smell

Sore throat

Congestion or runny nose

Nausea or vomiting

Diarrhea

Practice physical distancing

We understand that our it is hard to maintain a six foot distance per student at AWI, as space is limited. However, we ask that all members of the AWI community observe to the best of their ability a physical distance of at least six feet.

We ask that all members of the AWI community observe proper etiquette at the school and in the community. Keeping space between you and others in one of the best strategies we have to avoid being exposed to this virus, and to slowing its spread.

Wear a mask

All AWI community members must always wear a face covering. All students will receive a “COVID CARE KIT” health and safety kit containing COVID-19 supplies, including a facial covering.

Clean your work station

Throughout and at the end of each day, students will be asked to wipe down their tables in the classroom. AWI staff is increasing the frequency of routine disinfection of high-touch surfaces.

Dear Students & Staff,

In preparation for our upcoming fall class AWI has been taking serious precautions to avoid the spread of COVID-19. In order to be successful and for all of us to succeed I ask that all our AWI community members take precautions on campus and off. To preserve our efforts, we suggest our students do not travel on weekends or congregate in large groups in their off time. Should we find out students are not following protocol we reserve the right to discontinue teaching or ask the student to return at a later date. Cross contamination is at our highest concern, we are doing our due diligence to keep the spread at a minimum and we ask that all students help us to keep up these efforts. I look forward to meeting you all in the Fall for a safe and healthy Welding Program.
